If you have been following the news you may have heard that the Ministry of Health has deemed it safe for all regulated health professions to return to work. I have received many messages asking if it was true. So before I get into this blog, I just want to say THANK YOU to all of you for your support during this time. It as very refreshing to hear that you were looking forward to me returning to work as much as I was! As long as there is no second wave, I will be returning to work on:
Monday June 15th
The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario has outlined new Standards that we are required to follow to make a safe environment for all of us. So this article is to outline what this "new normal" will look like for now as we move through this together. I will be limiting my schedule to allow more time between clients to complete necessary cleaning protocols. For the first few weeks, I will only be doing a maximum of 45 minute treatments. This will allow us to address areas of concern while I gradually return to a fuller schedule.
Booking:
-My schedule is online for the first 4 weeks starting on June 15th. I will open up more as I see how things progress, but for now I will keep it like this. Keep checking back if it looks like I'm fully booked. Things are changing all the time.
-18 hours before your appointment, you will be sent an email automatically with a pre-treatment screening questionnaire. Please answer this honestly before your appointment. This is a requirement for every appointment.
-I am also required to complete the form before I enter the clinic. If you would like to see it, please let me know and I will have it ready for you.
Pre treatment:
-If you’re experiencing any symptoms of Corona Virus, please cancel your appointment and come back with a negative test result. This is to protect you and everyone in the clinic. -You do not need to worry about paying a cancellation fee as I will not charge for any late canceled appointments for this reason.
-For more information and to find where to get tested, please check here: https://www.ottawapublichealth.ca/en/shared-content/assessment-centres.aspx
Arrival to Clinic:
-When you arrive for your appointment, there will be a QR code on the window. Please scan it with the camera on your smart phone for you to check yourself in. To keep social distancing protocols, please wait outside the clinic/in your car.
-Come to the door at your appointment time. This is to reduce traffic in the reception and waiting room areas.
-You will be prompted to sanitize your hands when you first enter.
-Clients and therapists will be required to wear a mask through the appointment. If you do not have a mask, we will provide you with one.
-In attempt to keep the appointments scattered, I may ask you to come in 5-10 minutes early or later to limit the number of people at the front desk at a single time. I will contact you personally so if you don't hear from me your appointment time will be unchanged.
Treatment:
-As I mentioned earlier, both of us will be required to wear a mask, and I will be changing masks between each client. I will verbally confirm that the information on your self-screening form hasn't changed. If needed, you can access my daily COVID-19 screening tool to ensure I am safe
-For the time being, we will not be using blankets. If you are not comfortable having a folded sheet over top of you, please let me know and we can go over your options individually to ensure you're comfortable.
-I will still be diffusing oils, but I will no longer be using them topically until further notice.
-We will be boosting our already high cleaning protocols. There will be signs in each room if you'd like to see what we are doing.
Post Treatment:
We are even trying to reduce contact with payment. -Direct billing still available
-You will now be able to tap the debit machine up to $250/transaction.
-If you are comfortable, you can log in and add your credit card information into your account and payment can be made through our system.
I know it seems like a crazy time, but we want to get back into your care in a way that is safe for everyone. And as it stands now, this is just the new protocols that we have to follow. Hopefully if things go well we will be able to adjust accordingly. So, you made it to the end, phew!! I will keep this article live for a while for you to reference. I just figured this is the best way to convey what treatments will look like going forward so it's not a shock to your system when you first come in. So without further adieu, here is the link for you to book an appointment online:
If you have any questions, please ask. This is a troubling time for everyone so I want to make sure that you feel safe and calm about returning to your massage treatments. We're all in this together. So we're going to make it out together! Thank you for making it through this post and I hope you have a great day!!
